this is last line again one of the games that i reviewed in the first part but i decided to do it again because its one of the best casual games that i found to play, now that i am looking at styles and game types that i would like for my game more closely i looked at this again because in my original synopsis i listed properties that i would like my game to have and this game has most of them i like the idea of being able to buy and upgrade weapons to be able to get power ups and upgrades to help you through the increasingly difficult waves as you go on and that your having to stop the enemies from reaching you to preserve your life i also like the background and visual style that it gives to the game where everything looks dead and broken and the zombies slowly appearing through the mist at the back gives it an eerie feeling as you see countless enemies coming at you and some even appearing from the ground right in front of you. www.gamesgeko.com
this is a landscape from one of my favorite games ever and arguably one of the best western RPGs ever fallout 3 i really like the look and the feel that the scenery in this game gives, when i first started playing, it was really immersive the sights and the sounds made it feel as though you were there i would like to have some similar style for the background of my game when i create it and depending on the type of game that i am going to create weather it be a proper arcade style game with targets popping up from the various areas of ruin and limited ammunition or time in which to take them out, or a survival game in which the objective is to rack up as many points as possible before you are eventually overrun by the enemy, either of these types of games could work well with a similar background such as this or that of laststand as their background designs are similar in appearance and feel. fallout 3
this is the training area in call of duty one of the most popular games in the world at this point in time the training mission consists of you moving through a small area as quickly as you can shooting enemy targets and avoiding the civilian ones with as much accuracy as you can in the quickest time possible, although fairly basic could make a quite fun game if you had to move through the arcade game as quickly and accurately as possible with your time, score and accuracy being worked out to give you an overall score and a leader board to compete to get to the top although it is a graphicly good game in this area the background scenery of just plane walls and floors is fairly boring and i would want something better looking for my game although the idea of the moving to different areas on a rail system and having to get the best score you can might make for a good browser game. modern warfare 2
another style of background that would be good for the game where targets are popping out would be the hallway from the film aliens i could not find any good pictures from the films to demonstrate what i mean but this is a copy of the hallway from the film
the major differences in this picture to the film are that none of the doors or damage marks are there but if you had targets popping out or coming towards you it could make for a good game. aliens
my idea for my game is going to be a similar style to the classic arcade/carnival shooters where they have multiple targets randomly popping up at various areas and the idea is that you have to get as many points as possible with a limited amount of bullets and more points would be rewarded for shooting harder targets and points would be lost for shooting none threatening targets these games were originally designed to test peoples aim and reactions and mine will have a similar style to these. the idea for mine will be to have a good visual feel for the background with inspiration being drawn from the fallout and last stand games where they are destroyed and barren lands with multiple places for the targets to come from with different ranges and size of targets for more points, is still want to have a zombie theme in it as well so if i create different types of targets with the parts you have got to shoot at different points of their bodies and have normal human targets that you get minus points for shooting, with a good background and to keep people interested in playing i could put different difficulty settings in to affect the speed and at what range the targets appear at to give people more of a challenge, i will keep the control system simple like in the first games that i looked at instead of having loads of different keys to activate powers like in last stand so as not to overwhelm people that have just started playing so they can focus on their accuracy and scoring as many points as they can. hopefully with a good graphic background, simple control system and multiple difficulties for players to choose from this game will keep people interested and playing.
