evaluation
for this project we were asked to create a carnival shootout style game with our own twist on it, but first we had to get used to using unity again so our first task was to create a maze game out of simple blocks with a character that could move around and an end point, we also had to add a start and a finish screen into it so we could start the game up and return to the main menu, i completed this fairly easily as there wasnt much that coul go wrong with it, then we were taught how to create a shooting game by making a test carnival shooter game with basic targets, we were taught how to create a crosshair in photoshop and bring it into unity and make it transparent after that we had to create some platforms and some targets then we were shown how to animate them, which was fairl simple we were then taught how to create the bullets this was more difficult than the rest of the project so far as long as you followed the instructions it wasnt too difficult though it involved creating spheres and making them transparent then atatching a script and a prfab to it so that it could fire the bullets we then had to attach colliders to the targets so that they could be killed and scripts to the bullet prefab so that the bullets would be destroyed over a set amount of time or if they hit something. we then had to create our own games so i decided to go with a zombie type game where its dark and theres a house and the project started off well i managed to make the enviroment nd the targets easily enough and because of how easy it was to script the other targets i thought it wouldnt be that hard and because i was behind on other work i decided to catch up on that, so when it came to me doing this on my own i started to have problems such as being able to hit the targets i managed to sort it out so that they all die but you have to hit them in specific places now which makes it harder also the scoring system was tricky to put in at first as i hadnt done it before but i managed to get iyt working in the end, the hardesst part of the project was the scripting of the timer so that when it reached zero it would end the game this took a long time to figure out as the script that was put up to end the game was for when all the targets were destroyed not when the time runs out i managed to get this working in the end though qquite well if i had more time i would have sorted the targets out and made the timer reset when you start anouther game because it just ticks past zero at the moment but other than that i think the project went well and i have learned new skillsto help me improve on future projects

designs and layouts
these were some of my designs for what i wante my game to look like i originally wanted it to look like a carnival game but whn it came to crating it i decided to make it a full sized target shooting game near a farm house.
these were some of the designs that i wanted for my crosshair and the zombies and i chose one of these designs and kept with a similar type of zombie but hes on a board now.

carnival shootout game day 2
this is last line again one of the games that i reviewed in the first part but i decided to do it again because its one of the best casual games that i found to play, now that i am looking at styles and game types that i would like for my game more closely i looked at this again because in my original synopsis i listed properties that i would like my game to have and this game has most of them i like the idea of being able to buy and upgrade weapons to be able to get power ups and upgrades to help you through the increasingly difficult waves as you go on and that your having to stop the enemies from reaching you to preserve your life i also like the background and visual style that it gives to the game where everything looks dead and broken and the zombies slowly appearing through the mist at the back gives it an eerie feeling as you see countless enemies coming at you and some even appearing from the ground right in front of you. www.gamesgeko.com
this is a landscape from one of my favorite games ever and arguably one of the best western RPGs ever fallout 3 i really like the look and the feel that the scenery in this game gives, when i first started playing, it was really immersive the sights and the sounds made it feel as though you were there i would like to have some similar style for the background of my game when i create it and depending on the type of game that i am going to create weather it be a proper arcade style game with targets popping up from the various areas of ruin and limited ammunition or time in which to take them out, or a survival game in which the objective is to rack up as many points as possible before you are eventually overrun by the enemy, either of these types of games could work well with a similar background such as this or that of laststand as their background designs are similar in appearance and feel. fallout 3
this is the training area in call of duty one of the most popular games in the world at this point in time the training mission consists of you moving through a small area as quickly as you can shooting enemy targets and avoiding the civilian ones with as much accuracy as you can in the quickest time possible, although fairly basic could make a quite fun game if you had to move through the arcade game as quickly and accurately as possible with your time, score and accuracy being worked out to give you an overall score and a leader board to compete to get to the top although it is a graphicly good game in this area the background scenery of just plane walls and floors is fairly boring and i would want something better looking for my game although the idea of the moving to different areas on a rail system and having to get the best score you can might make for a good browser game. modern warfare 2
another style of background that would be good for the game where targets are popping out would be the hallway from the film aliens i could not find any good pictures from the films to demonstrate what i mean but this is a copy of the hallway from the film
the major differences in this picture to the film are that none of the doors or damage marks are there but if you had targets popping out or coming towards you it could make for a good game. aliens
my idea for my game is going to be a similar style to the classic arcade/carnival shooters where they have multiple targets randomly popping up at various areas and the idea is that you have to get as many points as possible with a limited amount of bullets and more points would be rewarded for shooting harder targets and points would be lost for shooting none threatening targets these games were originally designed to test peoples aim and reactions and mine will have a similar style to these. the idea for mine will be to have a good visual feel for the background with inspiration being drawn from the fallout and last stand games where they are destroyed and barren lands with multiple places for the targets to come from with different ranges and size of targets for more points, is still want to have a zombie theme in it as well so if i create different types of targets with the parts you have got to shoot at different points of their bodies and have normal human targets that you get minus points for shooting, with a good background and to keep people interested in playing i could put different difficulty settings in to affect the speed and at what range the targets appear at to give people more of a challenge, i will keep the control system simple like in the first games that i looked at instead of having loads of different keys to activate powers like in last stand so as not to overwhelm people that have just started playing so they can focus on their accuracy and scoring as many points as they can. hopefully with a good graphic background, simple control system and multiple difficulties for players to choose from this game will keep people interested and playing.

Carnival shootout day 1
casual games "A casual game is a video game targeted at or used by a mass audience of casual gamers. Casual games can have any type of gameplay, and fit in any genre. They are typically distinguished by their simple rules and lack of commitment required in contrast to more complex hardcore games. They require no long-term time commitment or special skills to play, and there are comparatively low production and distribution costs for the producer.
Casual games are typically played on a personal computer online in web browsers, although they now are starting to become popular on game consoles and mobile phones as well. Casual gamers are typically older than traditional computer gamers, and more often female, with over 74% of casual gamers being female." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casual_game

for this project i am going to be looking at a variety of different shooter games on the internet and comparing and contrasting them with each other paying close attention to their graphics, controls, replayability, gameplay and what makes them different to each other.
this is a popular carnival shootout type game on the internet as i found in on many sites its graphics are alright for the type of game that it is as you wouldn't expect any better from this type of game its controls are very easy and simple as it is just point and click all the reloading is done for you. as for its it got very boring very quickly as nothing much happened there were never more than two or three targets on screen at a time and they moved pretty slowly this was a pretty generic shooter with nothing to set it apart from any other arcade shooter.www.king.com
this is another carnival shooter game that i have found its graphics are simple as they are just circles and the backgrounds are plain, the controls are simple in this game as well as they are just point and click with no need to reload at all the replayability is better though as there are difficulty levels to choose from and when you get past the first stage it is a different type of game and so on for the rest of the levels as well and as there are up to 6 targets on screen at a time and they move fairly quickly so its harder than the last one and more enjoyable. www.mostfungames.com
this is another arcade shooter called last line where you are a survivor of a zombie apocalypse defending your outpost its much more in depth than the others and much more fun to play. its graphics are better its controls are more difficult as there are different things to buy and use such as ammo and different weapons its got multiple levels that get harder as you go through their can be many targets on screen at one time that vary their speeds and movement and is by far the most enjoyable out of the three. www.gamesgeko.com
this is the fourth arcade/carnival shooter game that i looked at called sniper school the graphics on this are probably the worst of the bunch but has a better quality of game play than the first two and is quit fun to play. there are three different game modes one is an accuracy game mode where you have limited bullets to hit a certain number of targets the other is just a normal arcade shooter where you have to hit as many targets as you can in a time limit and the final game mode is one where you have to keep a ball up in the air for as long as you can by shooting it, its got good replayability as it has three different game modes that you can play and has a very simple point and click control system. www.gamesgeko.com
for my carnival shooter game i think that i am going to create a classic type of carnival game like you find at carnivals where their are different targets poping up all over the place worth different points and also targets that you shouldn't shoot for minus points and i will have a limited amount of ammo for the game as i have not yet seen a game with that in or i might create a game like the last stand game that i reviewed where they have a lot of coming at once and the idea is that you have to keep them away as long as you can and the game fails when they have reached you, i also like the idea of having a zombie type feel to it so if i do something like that then i can add survivors in that could give you health bonuses or bonus points for each one that reaches you safely, if i had enough time i would like to put a weapon buying system in so that you dont have to keep using the same weapons or maybe an alternate mode so that people dont get to bored of the game too quickly.
